Understanding Natural Skincare Ingredients

Introduction

Ever pick up a soap or lotion and feel like you need a chemistry degree to understand the ingredient list? We believe you deserve to know exactly what you’re putting on your skin—and why it’s there.

Why Ingredients Matter

Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it absorbs much of what you put on it. That’s why we’re committed to using only ingredients that are pure, nourishing, and beneficial.

Our Key Ingredients: A Deep Dive

Tallow

What it is: Rendered beef fat that has been used in skincare for centuries.

Why we use it: Tallow’s fatty acid profile closely mirrors your skin’s natural oils (sebum), allowing it to absorb deeply and condition without clogging pores. It’s rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K—essential nutrients for skin health.

Found in: Avir, Laila, Dvash, Lehaet, Ahava, Hayim

Shea Butter

What it is: A natural fat extracted from the nuts of the shea tree.

Why we use it: Rich in fatty acids and vitamins, shea butter is intensely moisturizing and has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps restore skin elasticity and calm irritation.

Found in: Ahava

Coconut Oil

What it is: Oil pressed from coconut meat.

Why we use it: Creates a rich, cleansing lather while providing antibacterial and moisturizing benefits.

Found in: Avir, Laila, Dvash, Haver, Lehaet

Sweet Almond Oil

What it is: A light, non-greasy oil pressed from almonds.

Why we use it: Easily absorbed, rich in vitamin E, and gentle enough for sensitive skin.

Found in: Avir, Haver, Lehaet, Ahava

Castor Oil

What it is: Oil extracted from castor beans.

Why we use it: Creates a stable, luxurious lather and draws moisture to the skin.

Found in: Avir, Haver, Lehaet

Activated Charcoal

What it is: Carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase surface area.

Why we use it: Acts like a magnet to draw out impurities, dirt, and excess oil from pores.

Found in: Laila

Raw Honey

What it is: Pure, unprocessed honey.

Why we use it: Natural humectant that draws moisture to skin, with antibacterial properties.

Found in: Dvash

Bentonite Clay

What it is: Natural clay formed from volcanic ash.

Why we use it: Gently draws out impurities and provides gentle exfoliation.

Found in: Avir

What We DON’T Use (And Why)

We never use:

  • Parabens (hormone disruptors)
  • Sulfates (harsh detergents that strip natural oils)
  • Phthalates (linked to health concerns)
  • Artificial preservatives
  • Synthetic dyes

How to Read Our Ingredient Lists

Ingredients are always listed in order of predominance—the first ingredient is what there’s most of, and so on. We believe in complete transparency, so you’ll see every single ingredient clearly listed on each product.
